Your Hair Journey Consultant
Sian Ballantyne
Sian specialises in guiding clients through their hair restoration journey with care, professionalism, and honesty. With a strong focus on client education and personalised solutions, Sian works closely with individuals to understand their goals, provide detailed consultation support, and help create confidence through tailored treatment plans. Sian is passionate about delivering exceptional client experiences; she is dedicated to supporting patients from their initial enquiry right through to their transformation journey.
Sian works closely with the Doctors at the Southport clinic. Sian's consultation style is very relaxed, open and honest, she lets you guide her on what has brought you to meet her.
You will talk about what has caused you to reach out to Gro Clinics Gold Coast, and about your hair loss concerns, available options, such as medications, and/or a hair transplant procedure. Each consultation is different.
After discussing the motivators that brought you into the clinic, Sian will walk you through your available options.
She will cover what to expect if you proceed with a treatment at Gro Clinics Gold Coast, including recovery timeframes, what the day of the procedure looks like, and what to expect over the following 12 months and beyond.
Sian will take you on a full clinic tour.
She will walk you through every step of the day, from your pre-op meeting with our nurses and your private patient room, through to time spent in a surgical room where she will explain what to expect during the procedure.
After the tour of the surgery, Sian will take you to our Tech and Photography room.
We then take 6 photos of you using our DSLR Camera.
A HairMetrix microscopic analysis of your hair is performed. We assess the donor area and the areas of concern to you. This helps guide us on whether you would be a candidate for referral to clinically appropriate medical hair loss treatment, and whether you are a candidate for a hair transplant.
The report shows the consultant and the doctor the width of each hair, the quality of each hair, and how many hairs per cm2 you have available, and whether your donor area supports a hair transplant. We give you a copy of this report to take home.
The consultant and doctor both use AI ScalpScan technology to assist with consultation planning.
It confirms whether you have enough hairs available to support your desired outcome and provides accurate graft estimates, giving you transparency on pricing and what your procedure can achieve.
Dr Ballantyne also uses AI ScalpScan on the day of your procedure, once your head is shaved, to refine graft planning ahead of implementation.
Our Approach
Precision that protects your donor area and maximises every graft
Dr Ballantyne uses Gro's in-house method - Precise Follicle Placement (PFP) - a refined FUE technique designed to achieve natural-looking density while preserving your donor area for the long term.
Precise Follicle Placement
Every graft is placed individually using single implanters, allowing Dr Ballantyne to control the exact angle, depth, and direction of each follicle.
Donor Area Preservation
Using a refined extraction punch, grafts are removed with minimal impact to the surrounding tissue. This protects your donor area for potential future procedures.
Complex Cases Welcome
Dr Ballantyne has experience with some of the most challenging cases — including limited donor areas, afro-textured hair, and female hairline restoration.
Your Journey
What to expect from your hair transplant
Start with a free Discovery Call to discuss your goals. If you're a good fit, you'll attend an in-clinic consultation to assess your hair loss and build a treatment plan.
Some redness and swelling is normal in the first week. Transplanted hairs will shed within the first few weeks — this is expected and part of the natural cycle.
New growth usually begins around month three. Hair comes through finer at first and gradually thickens over time.
Hair continues to mature in density and texture. Most patients see noticeable change around the six-month mark, with full results over 12–18 months.

LOOKING FOR ANSWERS?
Here's everything you need to know
Have any additional questions about Gro Clinics' offerings or about your upcoming hair transplant? We have answers to some of the more commonly asked questions below:
Is a hair transplant permanent?
Transplanted follicles are designed to last long-term. However, hair loss can continue in untreated areas over time. Dr Ballantyne will discuss what to expect for your specific situation during your consultation.
Am I eligible for a hair transplant?
Eligibility depends on the cause and stage of your hair loss, your overall health, and donor area availability. A Discovery Call is the easiest way to find out if you're a good candidate.
Is a hair transplant painful?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic. Pain experience varies between patients. Any post-procedure sensitivity is temporary and managed with your aftercare plan.
How long is the recovery?
Mild redness and swelling typically settle within a few days. Most people return to normal activities within 1–5 days. Your care team provides personalised recovery guidance throughout.
Can I use superannuation or payment plans?
Flexible payment plans are available through third-party finance providers. Early release of superannuation may also be possible under ATO compassionate grounds - eligibility varies and our team can help you understand your options.
