How much does a hair transplant cost?

There’s more to hair transplant cost than a number.

It’s no secret hair transplants don’t come cheap.

However, the cost of a hair transplant is much more than a number. It’s about taking control over your hair loss and regaining all that time that you spend worrying about it.

Hair transplants with different providers come at different costs. The transplanted hair continues to gro for life, so it’s worth it to do your research to make sure your hair restoration surgery will be worth the financial investment.

Here at Gro, we don’t just focus on the number of grafts. Our pricing reflects the quality of our service, the experience of our team, the latest technology we use and the outstanding results we achieve.

Know what you’re getting

When looking into the cost of a hair transplant, the technique used is a major factor to consider. Understanding the key differences between different hair transplant methods helps you understand the value for money, as it will impact the results.

Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)

A follicular unit transplant (also called strip surgery) is much more invasive than modern hair transplants. In FUT, a long thin strip of scalp is cut out, typically from lower down on the back of the head. The hair follicles are divided into single units under a microscope. The scalp is then sewn back together where the strip was removed. Because the extraction phase is much quicker, FUT is a cheaper hair replacement method than the alternatives. However, it leaves a significant scar that can be seen under short hair. If you’re prone to keloid scarring, the scar can be very noticeable.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

Follicular unit extraction is another traditional hair transplantation technique. A punch is used to make a small circular cut in the skin around a hair follicle or group of follicles, leaving a small open hole. The process is repeated until there are enough follicles to cover the treatment area. Extraction can be done either manually (by a doctor or technician), or motorised (by a robot). The manual method causes less trauma to the skin. With both FUT and FUE, follicles are implanted by creating reception holes in the treatment area and placing the hair follicles into the holes with forceps. It allows little control over the angle, direction and depth of the hair. Implantation is normally done by technicians, not by doctors. With these older hair transplantation techniques, the focus is on the volume of follicles extracted, with little to no emphasis on follicle survival rate or natural-looking results.

Precise Follicle Placement (PFP)

PFP is a fine-tuned, world-class combination of the micro-FUE and direct implantation techniques. A punch with a diameter of less than 1mm is used to extract hairs one by one. Here at Gro, this minimally invasive extraction technique is always performed start to finish by a certified doctor, ensuring high quality and consistency. Our specialty tools are designed to minimise damage to the hair follicle and the skin. Between extraction and implantation, the follicles are kept in a growth solution at a constant temperature to ensure the highest survival rates. The Gro doctors have full control over the depth, direction and angle of each inserted hair follicle, giving our clients natural and undetectable results. There’s no need to create recipient holes in the treatment area with PFP, which allows for higher hair density.
