What is SMP and is it right for me?
SMP is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment where micro-needles deposit pigment into the scalp to mimic the appearance of natural hair follicles. It’s designed to create the illusion of thicker, denser hair, especially useful in areas that appear lighter under certain lighting or styling.

SMP is an an excellent option to:
- Refine the appearance of the hairline
- Help disguise FUE donor area scarring (great for clients who wear skin fades)
- Soften visual contrast in thinner zones
Unlike traditional tattoos, SMP uses a precise dotting technique (called pointillism) for a softer, more realistic finish.
What is the downtime like?
- Healing takes about 7–10 days
- Mild redness and scabbing are normal during this time
- Full results are visible by 4 weeks, with pigment softening for a natural look
How long does SMP last?
SMP typically lasts 3–5 years before a touch-up is needed. To maintain your result, we recommend:
- Keeping sun exposure to a minimum
- Moisturising the scalp regularly
- Following personalised aftercare advice
