What to Expect from a Beard Hair Transplant

A beard transplant involves relocating individual hair follicles—typically from the back or sides of the scalp—into areas where facial hair is lacking. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic by a registered doctor, using fine instruments to carefully place each graft in line with your natural hair pattern.

Gro uses a refined implantation method designed to support natural-looking outcomes with minimal downtime. Treatment typically takes one day, and new growth can begin a few months after the procedure, with full results continuing to develop over time.

How the Process Works

We follow a doctor-led, clinically guided approach to ensure your treatment is safe, personalised, and delivered with care at every step. Whether you’re looking to add density to patchy areas or build a beard from scratch, we start with a thorough understanding of your goals and hair characteristics.

All procedures are carried out by registered health practitioners. Outcomes can vary. Any references to hair growth or density are general in nature and depend on individual health and hair characteristics.

Get answers, not guesswork.

Your journey begins with a one-on-one consultation with a Gro Hair Growth Consultant. You'll discuss your beard goals, review your medical history, and explore suitable treatment options. We’ll explain how the procedure works, what kind of outcome is realistic for you, and provide a transparent cost estimate—so you can make an informed decision with confidence. Consultations are available online or in-clinic.

Performed by a registered doctor using fine, precise tools.

The procedure involves relocating hair follicles from a donor area—typically the back or sides of the scalp—into targeted areas of the beard or moustache. Each graft is placed individually to align with your existing growth pattern. The area is numbed with a local anaesthetic, and you’ll remain awake and comfortable throughout. You’ll have breaks, a chance to relax, and can bring headphones or entertainment for the day.

Ongoing support and follow-up included.

Once your procedure is complete, you’ll receive detailed instructions on how to care for the transplanted area. Our clinical team will check in regularly as you recover, offering support at every milestone. Most clients begin to notice new facial hair growth around the three- to four-month mark, with progressive changes continuing over time.

📌 Outcomes depend on factors like hair texture, follicle survival rate, and how closely aftercare instructions are followed.

Why Should You Consider a Beard Transplant?

Beard transplantation is typically for people who:

  • Struggle to grow facial hair due to genetics, scarring, or hormonal factors
  • Have patchy growth and want improved coverage
  • Are looking to restore or redefine beard shape and density

Hair for transplantation is typically sourced from areas with dense growth, such as the back or sides of the head, and implanted into facial areas based on your personal goals and suitability.
